Who Is The Blue Sparrow?
Well in short I am Beth Sims;
A Wife, a Mother of an active and imaginative 7 year old, a Hair Artist of over 16 years, and now into my 3rd almost 4th year as a small business owner. I love all things nerdy, bold and self expressive. I grew up in a small town in Southern Alberta, my mother used to take me one town over to what she classified “The Good Hairdresser”. Even at a young age (not far off from my daughter's age) I remember looking forward to the days we would go to that salon, and I saw the impact each artist had on every guest in their chair. I knew something powerful was happening, I just didn't know what it was yet.........
I am truly dedicated;
to making each individual appointment an entertaining, educational and a genuine experience. I specialize in up-to-date, trendy/vivid to soft natural looking Color services along with Precision style haircuts for any Gender or Generation. In Fact you will notice I have gone Gender Neutral with my price list, meaning I charge for what I do, not because you are male or female. Each guest in my chair is treated to a consultation resulting in realistic healthy outcomes for your hair, as well as setting your future hair goals. I seek earth friendly options, such as any and all reusable salon materials to minimise my carbon footprint and waste for future generations. I will be honest, authentic and never compromise the overall health of your hair or give you something that you cannot maintain. I can even be quoted as saying “It takes the two of us working together to create the best overall look for one head of hair.”
Now let's get real for a moment, why did I open Blue Sparrow?
In the past few years I have wanted to be my own boss, I have wanted to change the world in some small and hopefully meaningful way. Personally I have never felt there should be different prices based on gender, The price of a service should be reflected by the amount of hair one has and how long it takes to complete a service. I wanted to open my chair to everyone seeking a safe place to go, to have someone that will listen to them, and if the need be someone who would cry with them. Life happens differently everyday, and in turn what someone is wanting to reflect and express on the outside also changes, and that's where I come in.
